Page Title - Stockport Inclusion Team

Stockport’s Inclusion Team is a teaching support service for pupils with ASD, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and/or Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) attending mainstream or resourced provision in nurseries, primary and secondary schools. In addition, at KS3 and KS4, young people with physical disabilities are monitored by the Secondary Inclusion teacher.

The Primary Inclusion Team is based at Valley School while the Secondary Inclusion teacher is based at Heaton School.

The Inclusion team offers support in the following broad areas:

  • Advice to the SEN team/CYPDisP regarding pupil placement

  • School staff development

  • The maintenance of places

  • Working in partnership with other professionals and parents to meet individual children’s and young people’s needs

Stockport’s Inclusion Team works actively to support the Children &Young People's inclusion strategy and strives to build capacity in mainstream settings to meet the challenge of diversity. In inclusive schools, all pupils feel accepted and welcomed, are able to participate fully and can make progress in all aspects of school. In order to achieve this within Stockport, the team supports schools in identifying and minimising barriers to learning and participation, and in maximising resources to support the delivery of a balanced yet differentiated curriculum.

We therefore work closely with schools, professionals and parents at all stages of a child’s education, but are particularly involved at key transition stages when extra advice, support and guidance may be needed to help the child or young person make an effective move into the next stage.
