Page Title - CCDLT

The Children’s Community Learning Disability team is made up of 3 learning disability nurses, 1 nursery nurse and 4 support workers.

We offer services to children who have a severe learning disability.

Our eligibility criteria:

  • Children and young people aged 0 to 16 years, diagnosed as having a severe learning disability and additional health needs which may manifest in one of the following ways:
    • Behaviour which challenges the family
    • Social Communication difficulties
    • Anxiety and Fears
    • Sleep difficulties
    • Continence difficulties

The services which we can offer to families are:

  • Community nursing i.e. one to one support to parents to address presenting difficulties.
  • Specialist Parent Survival Courses with crèche support available.
  • Play and Social Development sessions for children aged 3 to 5 years
  • Social Skills courses for Young people aged 11 to 16 years
  • One to One work with a child or young person for example, Understanding Emotions, How to deal with Anxiety.

We do not accept referrals directly from parents.
