The database aims to empower parents and carers by providing information about all the services in Stockport that are available, including benefits, leisure activities, health, social care and education opportunities. Everyone who registers with the database is provided with a free A5 ringbinder with all this information and more.
The Stockport Disability Database gathers information about the health, welfare, education and social needs of children with disabilities.
The information is then made into statistical reports to enable service managers to plan their services as effectively as possible. So far, the statistical reports have been used for planning, funding and research by voluntary as well as statutory agencies.
In return for filling in the data collection form, parents and carers of the children benefit by receiving a pack full of information about services available in Stockport and information on how to access them. You do not need to have a Social Worker in order to access the Disability Database, but for further information please contact Elaine Mounter, Database Co-ordinator.
Please note - Stockport Disability Database has made no checks and can therefore make no recommendations or take any responsibility for other services and organisations referred to in the pack.
