Stockport wants to ensure that we continue to improve services
and meet the requirements of the Aiming High Short Breaks
programme set out in the guidance, ensuring that every
disabled child can have the best possible start in life, and the
support they and their families need to make equality of
opportunity a reality, allowing each and every child to fulfil
their potential.
Children with Disabilities
Find information about services available from Social Care to help and support families with children and young people who have disabilities, whether it is a physical or a learning disability, or a special need.
Stockport's Portage Service
Portage is a borough wide Education and support service for Pre School children aged 0-4 years with additional needs / disabilities and their families.
Special Educational Needs
Children with special educational needs all have disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age. These children may need extra or different help and support.
Stockport's Inclusion Team
Stockport’s Inclusion Team is a teaching support service for pupils with ASD, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and/or Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) attending mainstream or resourced provision in nurseries, primary and secondary schools.
