| No parent needs to feel alone when it comes to sorting out a suitable education for a child with special educational needs. Our aim is to offer impartial advice, information and support to parents and carers to ensure that their child's education needs are understood and respected by all those involved in decision-making. |
|
We provide information about:
- Information about special educational needs assessment
- School placement and transfer arrangements
- Individual support such as home visits, attendance at meetings and reviews.
- Opportunities to join parent support groups and take part in the Parents’ Forum.
- Annual Reviews including transfer and transition reviews
- Information about local, regional and national provision/services.
How we can help:
The aim of Parent Partnership is to 'enable' parents to become more effective and to take an active role in the identification and assessment of their child's educational needs in school. Our support to parents and carers of children with special educational needs includes independent and impartial advice during statutory assessment. This can vary in response to parents' request but might include:
- Home visits to offer to listen to your concerns and offer practical advice.
- Help with filling in forms and preparing a summary for statutory assessment.
- Support at meetings and liaison with SEN teams.
- Suggestions about working with those involved with your child's education.
- Locating other sources of information or support.
- Information sessions for groups of parents and other 'partners' involved in meeting children's educational needs.
