Page Title - SEN Transport

What we do:

We aim to promote inclusive opportunities to enable children and young people with special educational needs to travel to and from school or college independently or by using transport provided.

A meeting will be arranged with parents/carers to complete an assessment to establish transport needs and explore parental capacity.

Additionally all children requesting transport will be assessed for independent travel training.

Children will work on a 1:1 basis with travel trainers to learn the Home to School route.

In doing so they will develop there independence and social skills while at the same time we ensure there safety is paramount.

There is an expectation that where it is considered appropriate children will be put forward for such training.

For more information on travel training please contact the transport team on:

0161 249 4450 / 0161 249 4426 / 0161 249 4457 or alternatively you can email specialeducation@stockport.gov.uk

The team are also responsible for issuing bus pass application forms which entitle all statemented children to free travel.

Please contact the team if you wish to request a bus pass application form. When you have completed the application form it should be sent back to the office, it is then collated by the team and sent to the GMPTE.

Non-Statemented children wanting a Bus Pass still go through via Pupil Services (Admissions)

Solutions SK are the company who are responsible for commissioning transport on behalf of CYPD.
